What Is a Sinus Lift?

A sinus lift may be recommended when there is limited bone height beneath the sinus in the upper back jaw. The procedure creates additional space for bone formation so that a dental implant can be placed in a suitable position. Depending on the available bone and implant stability, the implant may be placed at the same time or after a healing period.
Sinus-Lift Approaches
The appropriate approach depends on available bone height, sinus anatomy, implant requirements and other clinical findings. Treatment may be performed through a more limited crestal approach or another surgical approach when appropriate. A crestal approach is not suitable for every case.
